“We are very pleased to announce this first step in our journey to bring 5G device manufacturing to Europe.” Jean-Francois Baril, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of HMD Global said.
“The Nokia brand has a proud history within the European market, and with this move we are continuing to strengthen our position as the only major European smartphone provider.” he added.
In addition to reducing its carbon footprint and making sure its phones are secure and private, HMD sees a spike in demand for its smartphones in Europe.
In order to comply with stringent stipulations in the European Union, HMD has positioned its data centers in Finland since 2019.
